|
|
I've had my QS6 for about 5 years with no major problems. A couple of years ago I hooked it up to my computer with Cakewalk via the built in serial interface. I didn't have any problems, but I uninstalled it because I wasn't using it.
Now I have everything re-installed and everything is working except for the record function. I can record within Cakewalk itself, but when I use my synth in step record or live record nothing gets recorded.
I suspect that it may be a bad cable or something in the interface, but the synth receives data perfectly. I can play any midi file or pro audio file through my synth. There is only one minor problem in that sometimes when I switch patches on the computer the synth doesn't always change patches right away.
Does this sound like a cable problem or interface problem? I have a book on Cakewalk and I think I 've tried just about everything.
Please help.

It might be a cable problem but you will only know for sure if you get a new cable or find a way to test the old one.
Before you do that check your Cakewalk setup, see if both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT are set to the serial port and listed on the top.
If this is not the problem try to check your serial port settings.
I personally don't recommend using the serial port for MIDI. If you have a USB port get a USB MIDI interface cable
like the Midisport UNO. It's simple and easy to configure and doesn't cost much more than a new serial cable. _________________
