| I have 2 USB devices, #1 is an Alesis SR-16 Drum machine, #2 is a Radio Shack DM-1210 Keyboard. They both have midi ins and outs. I am using a Firestudio Tube as the midi I/O , it has a midi serial port in the back. I am using Cubase 5 as my midi software to record. I have hooked up both machines with midi cables separately, but I can not get any kind of signal into the computer. Is this a Lost Cause? I want to use these 2 devices as controllers if possible. My PC computer is running Windows Vista. Any help would be greatly appreciated.........Thanks in advance...CraigL |

The Firesudio Tube only has one MIDI I/O on a breakout cable, so it will not work with two MIDI devices.
I would recommend buying a dedicated 2x2 MIDI interface, like the Midisport 2x2 or similar.
It will give you two discrete MIDI ports, 32 channles for recording and playback. _________________ http://www.cdbm.com |

Thanks for the reply, but my problem is that I can get no indication of any type of signal from any 1 input. I have never tried to hook them up both at the same time. I am trying to figure out where the signal path is broken.....
Both devices work well on their own, but when I try to put a single midi source into the Firestudio, I cannot get that signal into Cubase....... |

Check you PC media settings. see if Firestudio MIDI listed as an available MIDI device. It might be called Firewire MIDI or similar.
If it's not listed, then you may have to install the driver or any software that came with the interface.
If Firestudio is available in Windows media settings, then run Cubase and make sure the same device is selected for MIDI I/O. |
